Hello,

After I tried running the original file did not turn out quite well, I tried out WolfR4, but the game crashes evreytime when finished loading a track (or short after). I messed around with WolfR4s Settings quite a while now, but I didn't make any progress. Original file is in Win98 Comp. mode and version 1207 is applied.

Can someone help me?

Hi,
You should at least tell the OS you're under. Win 7, Win 8 ?
Same behavior on any track? Have you added any custom content?

  • I'm running Win7
  • I've tried to add that "Jailhouse Rock" track from the WolfR4 Website but removed it now.
  • Same behaviour on any track.

You can try to clean everything up before. Like: delete the whole revolt folder and reinstall it, then re-install WolfR4 inside this directory.
Don't launch re-volt yet. Open the Windows registry editor to delete those keys if you can find them (be careful not to mess in the registry though).

Code: Select all

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Acclaim\Re-Volt]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Acclaim\Re-Volt]
(You may just save the code above in a text file, rename it to "rv_reset.reg" and launch it.)

Then launch WolfR4, I suggest you click on the screen icon to switch to windowed mode for Re-Volt, and click the Launch Re-Volt button.

If this doesn't work I couldn't help more.

Otherwise, any reason not to give the v1.2 patch a try alternatively?

Now the game works! Thank you! :thumbs-up:

Trying to get the music work now...

Can't get the music woking....

Things I did:
  • Downloaded "Mp3dec.asi" and placed it in /Acclaim/ReVolt
  • Activated the "Enable MP3 music playback" and the "Initialise sound system to 44.1kHz" option in WolfR4
  • Activated "-no3Dsound" and "-noeax" in WolfR4
If I just still had the original CD... :(

Hmm, which music...? If you don't have the CD and didn't add MP3 either, which music do you expect to be played?
WolfR4 doc wrote:Enable MP3 music playback
The MP3 files for the stock tracks have to be placed in the Re-Volt directory.
WolfR4 doc wrote:Enable CD music from drive
You have to set the Re-Volt's CDROM drive letter, and of course keep the Re-Volt CD in the tray.

Download here

Burn it with Nero software if you please or use Daemon Tools Lite.

Or download KDL music pack @ re-volt live or use 1.2, its far better

1.1 has its limits with cars -_-

I'd like to use 1.2, but it seems it's not comatible with WolfR4...

Using the CD + WolfR4s "Enable Music from CD" option didn't help either.

Well, let's check that KCL Music pack...

EDIT: Nope, still doesn't work... -.-

Have you tried again to extract the MP3 support files in your newly created Re-Volt install, ensure "enable MP3 music playback" is checked in WolfR4, and check the music volume in Re-Volt frontend?

What do you need in WolfR4 that is not in v1.2?

Though I would still recommend using WolfR4 if you know what you're doing and expect to get the original Re-Volt experience, v1.2 could be appropriate for you as well if all you want is play Re-Volt.

Yup, that was the problem! Accidentally deleted those files while messing around.
Well, the game seems to run perfectly right now and with music!
Thank you all for your tips and patience! ^_^
