Were there ever mods that could let you take out the pillars while building a lego track or twist the pieces while building a lego track? If so, please tell me.
Nope, there has never been a mod or patch that would allow you to edit lego tracks within the lego/track editor.
The only tools similar to what you discribe are the TrackMK and PrmBend tools created by SRMalloy.
These tools allow you to create and alter prm's/instances which you can then place in your track using the MAKEITGOOD name cheat.
