High everyone
I have made a lot of tracks but I never could zip them so that
they would install themselves to the right folders.
I tried but It dont seem to work.
So I need to know
1 what zip program I should use?
2 how do you get it to zip up right
so that it go to the folders levels and gfx?
3 where do you get the zip program from?
4 and I dont have any money right now.
So if some of you rocket scientist could help me I would appreciate it.
And thank you!

1-WinRAR.
2-right click on the track's folder and press on "Add to the file" (or something else), write the name of the file, and choose the ZIP format.
3-i don't know, search with Google, Lycos, Vonna, etc.
PS: me??? Alcoholic???

I do it this way (with WinZip):
I right click on the Desktop and create 2 New Folders.
I name one: gfx and the other: levels
Make sure your track folder contains no files that are not needed.
Delete all MAKEITGOOD and rvGlue backup files:
files that have a dash (-) in the file suffix, such as:
.fo-, .fi- , .ta-, etc, these files are not needed.
Then I Cut and Paste the track folder into the new levels folder.
Then I Cut and Paste the gfx BMP (and .bmq if you made one)
into the new gfx folder.
Then I select BOTH new folders and right click and select
WinZip / Add to Zip file...
Then select a New path where you want to Save the Zip (I pick Desktop),
and give the Zip the name of your track and click Add.
A Zip file should be created containing the 2 folders as sub-folders (levels and gfx).
Right click the zip and select Explore and see if both sub-folders are there.
Also look through all the folders in the Zip and Delete any Thumbs.db files
you find, these are not needed.
Now Extract the Zip into your main Re-volt folder and test the track to see
if the Zip is correctly made.
Almost all the Zips posted Extract in the main Re-volt folder.
Maybe put in the readme to Extract there.
The above is a lot of info for something that takes about 20 seconds to do.

My posts owns you all WITH FREEWARE since everyone uses the big names.
1. I use 7-Zip, which according to most people can make some of the smallest regular zip files.
2. I've packed up tracks once or twice, I make a gfx folder and a levels folder, have the bmp and bmq right in the gfx folder, and have the single level's folder in the levels folder. I then select both the gfx and levels folders and (optionally a readme) and right click, click on the 7-Zip button, then click "Add to '*.zip'" (the asterisk most likely being the folder name, since it's two folders you're selecting). I then rename it to the level's folder name.
3.
http://www.7-zip.org/
4. This is free, unlike the above two (although you can get away with using them for extended periods of time anyway, or you can crack them
).
I hope one of these three posts aid you, don't really care if it is my own.

use winRAR my suggestion (40 days and then a small small ad will be showed once Winrar started, well, it's a message box, not even ad
)
The following tasks is for Winzip, winAce, winrar, etc...
1- Install a compressor
2- Make an empty folder for gfx\ and levels\ [example: Test\]
3- make an empty folder which called "GFX" into the previous folder [example Test\GFX] which you paste the bmp file
4- Make an empty folder called levels and copy the folder of your track
What u will get:
\GFX\ : has a bmp (mipmap too if you want)
\Levels\: has only one folder is the trackname
\Levels\Trackname\ : has the track data (*w, *.fob...)
5- Now you are on the first created folder [TEST for example]
Select the both folder and then Add to archive
good luck

use windows. That's what i think is easiest.
Do as all others tell but do this instead.
Select both folders -> Right click -> Send to -> ZIP compressed folder
And that's it!

Huki
best to use winRAR
1) create 2 folders named gfx and levels
2) but your track's picture in gfx folder
3) put the track's folder in levels folder
4) select both gfx and levels folder, right click add to archive and save it anywhere
